Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies in Northern California, USA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Additive, to build our additive manufacturing capability from the ground up. You will own the end-to-end process for metal powder fusion parts and thermoplastic print processes, collaborating with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or physics.
• 2+ years direct experience in additive manufacturing, metal (Laser Bed Powder Fusion).
• Experience with explosive/combustible powder storage/handling best practices.
• Familiarity with additive software (listed).
• 1+ years CNC machining with 5-axis mills.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, or similar).
• Strong GD&T and drawing reviews ability.
• Experience writing technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Own additive metal by developing Laser Bed Powder Fusion process from ground up.
• Own PEEK, ULTEM, and other engineered thermoplastics printing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering for DFAM and tolerance analysis.
• Develop SOPs for printer calibration and maintenance.
• Develop process monitoring and print quality criteria.
• Write work instructions, templates, process specs, and build documents.
• Troubleshoot non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Assist in machining and programming for R&D and production.
• Design fixtures and assist contract manufacturers on processes.
• Implement lean systems and 5S in additive manufacturing area.
