Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and anatomical data with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with medical device quality systems, regulatory requirements, and validation protocols is a plus.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.

Job description

Role Description

This full-time Additive Manufacturing Engineer role is an on-site position based in Maine, United States. The engineer will support the design, development, and production of patient-matched orthopedic implants using EBM and related additive manufacturing technologies. Daily responsibilities include translating clinical and anatomical requirements into manufacturable designs, setting up and optimizing build parameters, overseeing machine operation, and ensuring parts meet quality and regulatory standards. The role also involves troubleshooting manufacturing issues, improving process efficiency, collaborating with design, quality, and clinical teams, and maintaining detailed documentation of processes and outcomes. The engineer will contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing workflows and support scaling of production to meet growing demand.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to implant design and additive manufacturing.
  • Practical experience with Manufacturing Processes and Manufacturing Engineering, including process optimization, quality control, and production scale-up.
  • Knowledge of Machining and related finishing processes to support post-processing of additively manufactured components.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree is beneficial.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies (EBM or similar) and CAD/CAM tools for medical devices or precision components.
