Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer, Orthopedic Implants role based in Maine, United States. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop patient-matched orthopedic implants and related components, leveraging CAD tools and mechanical design principles. Daily responsibilities include translating clinical requirements and patient anatomy data into detailed design specifications, creating and refining 3D models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and quality. The role involves supporting design reviews, performing basic mechanical analyses, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring designs meet regulatory, performance, and manufacturability requirements. The engineer will also assist in continuous improvement of design workflows and participate in testing and validation activities for new and existing implant solutions.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with applied experience in Design Engineering and Medical Device Design.
  • Proficiency in Product Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and drawing creation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in medical devices, orthopedic implants, or precision mechanical components is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (including additive manufacturing), and basic structural/mechanical analysis.
  • Ability to interpret clinical and anatomical data and translate it into practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with capability to produce clear technical documentation.
