Job summary

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports is seeking an Addictions Counselor 1 to join the Addiction Treatment Center’s multidisciplinary team in New York. You will work under supervision to provide individual and group therapy, assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention, including evening and weekend programming.

Qualifications

• Currently employed as an Addictions Counselor 1 or eligible for NY CASAC transfer.
• Must possess current CASAC registration in New York State.
• Eligible for NY HELPS non-competitive appointment if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary counselor for assigned groups, managing all facets of clinical services.
• Develop and provide group and individual treatment during evening/weekend programming.
• Provide therapy and facilitate recreational, vocational, and social activities.
• Interview clients, review history, and complete assessments for treatment plans.
• Monitor progress toward treatment goals and document accordingly.
• Provide orientation to facility programs, policies, and rules.
• Provide crisis intervention and coordinate with referral agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain client confidentiality and complete required documentation.
