Position Overview

Tufts Medical Center’s Physician Organization and the Division of Addiction Psychiatry are seeking a full-time Division Chief of Addiction Psychiatry. The successful candidate will lead Addiction Psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center (TMC) and across the Tufts Medicine healthcare system, collaborating with the Department of Medicine and partnering with Tufts Medicine Integrated Network (TMIN), Lowell General Hospital, and MelroseWakefield Health.

The Chief will oversee a 24-bed inpatient dual diagnosis unit at Tufts’ joint venture behavioral health hospital with Acadia Healthcare. There will also be opportunities to develop clinical research in addiction psychiatry at TMC and across Tufts Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team to expand addiction care across emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and TMIN settings.
• Improve access to team-based addiction care, supporting Medicaid ACO, Medicare, and commercial risk contracts.
• Advance clinical research, foster collaboration, and implement evidence-based practices in addiction psychiatry.
• Secure funding for research, develop treatment protocols, and translate findings into clinical practice.
• Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, and develop curricula in addiction psychiatry.
• Participate in departmental leadership and contribute to the Adult Psychiatry Residency program.

Qualifications

• Successful clinical leadership experience at an academic institution.
• Passionate mentor with clinical and academic accomplishments.
• MD or equivalent, eligible for Massachusetts medical license.
• Board Certified/Eligible in Addiction Psychiatry.
• Appointment to Tufts University School of Medicine faculty based on experience, with opportunities for teaching and leadership.

Compensation

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine will be offered based on qualifications.
