Job summary

Texas Treatment Services is seeking a Counselor to provide direct addiction treatment services to adults and family members. You will conduct individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, and coordinate with medical staff and community agencies to ensure continuity of care.

The role emphasizes maintaining accurate documentation, protecting patient confidentiality, and contributing to ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in counseling or related field or LCDC certification (or in progress).
• Valid driver’s license or state ID.
• Experience with documentation, assessments and treatment planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to assigned patients.
• Lead training groups and provide therapeutic leadership in sessions.
• Coordinate with community agencies and law enforcement for referrals and compliance.
• Complete initial chemical dependency assessments with patient signatures.
• Develop and monitor individual treatment plans with patient input and signatures.
• Update patient charts within 30 days and ensure accuracy of records.
• Collect urine samples for monthly urinalysis and document results.
• Ensure confidentiality and proper release forms for referrals and outside contacts.
• Maintain patient files in compliance with regulations and secure storage.
• Discharge patients within seven days, submitting files to the Program Director.
• Contribute to CQI monitors and participate in daily reports and treatment teams.
• Provide patient education on chemical dependency and recovery processes.
• Offer supportive counseling or crisis intervention as needed.
• Engage in professional development and internal training programs.
