Job summary

The Aurora West School District 129 is seeking a dedicated Substitute Paraprofessional who can adapt quickly, stay patient with students, and work well with diverse learning needs. You will assist teachers with instructional activities, monitor behavior, support students with special needs, and help with small-group and one-on-one sessions.

This on-call role requires teamwork, reliability, basic computer skills, and a positive attitude; compensation is $15 per hour.

Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
Patience, empathy and genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans.
Support students with special needs in their daily activities, including academic tasks and social interactions.
Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to ensure a positive learning environment.
Facilitate small group activities and provide one-on-one assistance to students as needed.
Follow school policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
