New Horizons is hiring an Adaptive Skills Training (AST) Specialist to empower adults with developmental disabilities in a comfortable residential home setting. The AST Specialist provides person-centered, community-based instruction to enhance independence and participation in daily life and community activities.

The role emphasizes developing adaptive, social, vocational, communication, and daily living skills through individualized training plans aligned with IPP/ PCP and DDS requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• RBT certification preferred.
• ACRE certification or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with developmental disabilities preferred.
• CPR/First Aid trainings provided or required.

Responsabilités

• Provide person-centered, community-based instruction to adults with I/DD to increase independence and community participation.
• Implement individualized training plans focusing on adaptive, social, vocational, communication and daily living skills.
• Promote community integration in line with IPP/ PCP and DDS requirements.
• Serve as teacher, coach and advocate to maximize each individual's independence.

Connaissances

Clear communication skills

English proficiency (verbal & written)

Formation

Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or related field

Registered Behavior Technician Certification (RBT) preferred

ACRE Certified in Customized Employment (certificate provided if needed)
