Job summary

ARCO/Murray National Construction is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager who is passionate about the design/build construction process to join our Tenant Solutions/Adaptive Reuse team based in downtown Chicago. At ARCO, every associate has full responsibility for project performance, customer satisfaction, and taking projects from design to completion.

Lead preconstruction planning meetings with designers, subcontractors and vendors; oversee budgeting, scheduling, and on-site coordination

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field is required.
• 2-5 years of construction management or engineering design experience.
• Experience leading ground up commercial, light industrial, multi-family, hospitality, or entertainment construction projects is preferred.
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects of project from the earliest stages of preconstruction through project closeout.
• Work closely with clients and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings and project budget.
• Participate in the proposal meeting with clients to review scope, reduce costs, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees.
• Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout process for all trades and vendors.
• Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule.
• Coordinate with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan.
• Lead preconstruction planning meetings with designers, subcontractors and vendors to solve constructability, sequencing, and manpower issues.
• Lead weekly/bi-weekly on-site meetings to review progress and address challenges with client.
• Track and manage project performance vs budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports.
• Find ways to make the construction process FUN for clients, subcontractors, and vendors without sacrificing QUALITY or SAFETY.
