Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Aide to support children with special needs in municipal programs. You will assist with planning and leading activities, monitor safety, and help participants engage with peers in a dynamic environment.

The role involves working across locations with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and requires strong communication and organizational skills. A proactive, caring approach supported by relevant training is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
• Two years' experience with children and/or adults with special needs.
• Ability to work shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months of hire.
• DCF 40-hour childcare training within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one assistance and lead recreational activities.
• Evaluate participants' skill levels and participation capacity.
• Implement behavior plans and document accordingly.
• Assist participants to adapt activities and facilitate social interactions.
• Conduct diversified recreational activities and prepare fields for events.
