Job summary

Natick Public Works Dept seeks an Adaptive Program Instructor to support participants with special needs in a community recreation setting. This part-time position emphasizes safety, inclusion, and active engagement with participants and staff.

The role involves assisting with daily activities, promoting respectful behavior, and collaborating with a team to deliver quality programs. CPR/FA certification and CORI/SORI processing are required or in progress.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Experience working with Special Needs recommended.
  • Ability to interact with all ages and ability levels.
  • Must obtain CPR/FA Certification approved by Massachusetts State Health Department or be able to obtain.
  • Must fill out CORI/SORI form.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the health, well-being and happiness of participant.
  • Encourage respect for personal property, equipment and facilities.
  • Set a good example for participants in all areas.
  • Supervise, assist instructors and actively participate in all aspects of the participants’ day.
  • Assist staff with participant’s toileting and feeding needs.
  • Work as a team with other staff.
  • Monitor social interactions between participants and public, assess for appropriate behavior.

Adaptive Program Instructor

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Experience working with Special Needs recommended
  • Ability to interact with all ages and ability levels
Special Requirements
  • Has or is able to obtain current CPR/FA Certification approved by Massachusetts State Health Department.
  • Must fill out CORI/SORI form
Compensation

This position is Grade 1 of the Town’s Part-Time Pay Plan with an hourly range of $16.00 to $16.98 based upon qualifications and experience.
