Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD seeks a Special Education Physical Education Teacher to provide engaging PE instruction for students with disabilities (SMI, SCI, SEI, MCI, ASD). Develop a classroom and community-based program that promotes functional independence, physical well-being, and social integration.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan Teacher’s Certificate.
• Appropriate Special Education Endorsement.
• Meet Highly Qualified Standards.
• Adaptive P.E. Certification and Lifeguard Certification (Reimbursed by ISD).
• Maintain required trainings and certifications before expiration.
• Regular and reliable attendance and physical ability.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students individually and in groups using multi-sensory strategies.
• Develop and monitor performance objectives with data collection.
• Evaluate and revise classroom curriculum.
• Teach Michigan Sex Education and stay current with related laws.
• Collaborate with teachers and school nurse on lessons and student care.
• Supervise student teachers and volunteers; maintain records and safety.
