Job summary

KIPP New Orleans Schools is seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to help students with disabilities develop motor skills, fitness, confidence, and participation in physical education. This role includes assessing needs, supporting IEP determinations, and delivering individualized instruction aligned with each student’s plan.

The position requires collaboration with occupational/physical therapists and teachers, a safe learning environment, and adherence to KNOS standards.

Qualifications

• Certification in adaptive physical education is required.
• Two years of teaching experience in urban, open enrollment schools preferred.
• State-issued teaching credential preferred.
• Offers contingent upon successful reference checks, identity/work authorization verification, background check, and verification of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ motor skills and fitness levels to ensure IEPs reflect their abilities and needs.
• Develop and update annual IEP goals aligned with student needs and standards.
• Adapt PE instruction and ensure safe learning environments.
• Collaborate with occupational and physical therapists and classroom teachers to coordinate services.
• Maintain compliance with state requirements for adaptive physical education and KNOS standards.
