Job summary

KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is seeking an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to support students with disabilities by building motor skills, fitness, confidence, and participation in PE, with instruction aligned to IEPs. This full-time, on-site role requires collaboration with therapists and teachers to implement services in inclusive settings.

Responsibilities include assessing needs, planning IEP goals, delivering individualized instruction, and maintaining safe classroom

Qualifications

• Certification in adaptive physical education is required.
• Two years of teaching experience in urban/open enrollment schools preferred.
• Demonstrated success raising student achievement outcomes.
• State issued teaching credential required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and address students' motor skills and fitness levels according to IEPs.
• Deliver individualized adaptive PE instruction and make-up sessions as needed.
• Collaborate with occupational/physical therapists and teachers to coordinate services.
• Establish safe, supportive learning environments and ensure compliant teacher-student ratios.
• Communicate with families and school staff about student progress and services.
