Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a school-based role in Concord, NC for the 2026–2027 school year. You will provide individualized physical education instruction to students with disabilities, helping them develop motor skills, physical fitness, and confidence while supporting their participation in the school environment.

This role welcomes both experienced APE teachers and newcomers to the field.

Qualifications

• Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists and families.
• Strong communication with students, families and staff.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide adapted physical education services to students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement individualized physical education plans.
• Assess student motor skills and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student success.
• Maintain documentation and participate in IEP meetings as appropriate.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Valid North Carolina Educator License with NCDPI Adaptive Curriculum licensure (or eligibility to obtain)

• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred

• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• School-based experience preferred, but not required
