Job summary

ADAPT Community Network seeks an Adapted Physical Education teacher for its Manhattan Children’s Program. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8am–3pm, serving pre-schoolers with developmental disabilities.

The teacher designs and implements motor and fitness plans aligned with IEP goals and supports inclusive classroom practices. Qualifications include a NY State PE certification and a degree in Physical Education, with a preference for Adapted PE certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• New York State certification in Physical Education required; adapted PE certification preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak English and communicate effectively with students and families.
• Proficiency with computers and educational software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver adapted physical education to students with developmental or physical disabilities.
• Develop individualized and group programs aligned with IEP goals.
• Monitor progress and maintain documentation and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and families to support student outcomes.
• Provide mentorship and training to teachers and student teachers.
