Job summary

Rehab Without Walls in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) to evaluate and train individuals with impairments to drive safely. You will conduct behind-the-wheel assessments, recommend adaptive equipment, and develop rehabilitation plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include driving evaluations, documentation, and client education, with travel 75-100%.

Qualifications

CDRS credential through ADED.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in driver training or driver rehabilitation work.
Experience with neurological or medically complex populations.
Familiarity with interdisciplinary treatment planning.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Willingness to travel 75–100%.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive driver evaluations including intake, vision, cognitive, motor and behind-the-wheel assessments.
Identify functional limitations impacting driving performance.
Determine readiness for new skills or return to driving.
Provide structured driver training using adaptive equipment as needed.
Teach compensatory driving strategies and safety behaviors.
Maintain documentation and write evaluation and discharge reports.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and communicate with physicians as needed.
Coordinate with vendors for adaptive equipment installation.
Ensure compliance with DMV guidelines and safety standards.
