Job summary

Metter is seeking a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher – Adapted Curriculum. You will design and deliver individualized instruction aligned to IEPs and state standards, in a safe, structured classroom. Collaboration with teams and families ensures progress in academics, behavior, and daily living skills.

The role requires a Georgia teaching certificate (Adapted Curriculum) or eligibility, plus ongoing professional development and compliance with district procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education Adapted Curriculum (P–12).
• Hold a Georgia Special Education certificate and plan to add the Adapted Curriculum field within district timelines.
• Meet certification requirements established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
• Pass all required background checks.
• Maintain required certifications and ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide individualized instruction based on each student’s IEP and goals.
• Provide instruction aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and adapted curriculum standards.
• Develop and revise IEPs in compliance with federal/state/district requirements.
• Serve as the case manager for assigned students and meet all timelines.
• Collect progress-monitoring data for every IEP goal and adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related-service providers.
• Prepare students for and administer Georgia Alternate Assessment and other tests.
• Maintain confidential records and documentation.
