Job summary

Kennedy Krieger Institute, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities, help implement IEPs, and adapt instruction for individual needs.

You will assist with Lifeskills, data collection, and behavior management in a team setting, including participation in meetings and professional development.

The role may involve driving Institute vans and engaging in water-based activities at the Southern Maryland Campus; the program runs 11 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in education, special education, or related area preferred.
• Previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• PCM or CPI training will be provided; Practitioner level PCM certification per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist instruction and assessment for students with developmental disabilities per IEP and Common Core.
• Adhere to behavioral plans and PBIS as written; use ABA principles as indicated.
• Utilize approved physical intervention procedures as trained.
• Support skill development and daily living/medical needs of students.
• Record data accurately and participate in meetings and professional development.
• May drive Institute vans and participate in water-based activities.
