Job summary

Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a Classroom Assistant for Greenspring Campus High School. The role supports students with disabilities, adheres to IEP goals and uses ABA/PBIS strategies under supervision. You will assist with instruction, adapt materials, collect data, and participate in team meetings and trainings.

The position may involve driving Institute vans and supervising off-campus activities, with a focus on developing pro-social skills and independence in students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate’s degree in education or related area preferred.
• Previous experience with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist instruction and assessment for students with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
• Adhere to behavioral plans and PBIS, using ABA principles where indicated.
• Effectively use behavior management strategies and approved intervention procedures.
• Support skill acquisition and daily living/medical needs for students, including mobility when needed.
• Collect and record data in a timely, prescribed manner.
• Organize, prepare and use materials; support technology in instructional design.
• Participate in meetings, supervision, trainings and school events.
• May be required to safely drive Institute vans and transport students.
