Job summary

DISTRICT WIDE in College Station, TX, is seeking an Instructional Assistant for SpEd Adaptive Behavior (Grades 5-6). The role reports to the Principal and teachers, with a 187-day schedule and a wage status of non-exempt.

Starting immediately, the position involves assisting with behavior plans, IEP goals, and daily instructional support, on campus. Qualifications include a High School Diploma; candidates should be able to handle physical, emotional, and medical needs of students and participate

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School Diploma.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work with children with disabilities; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively; district crisis intervention training; behavior management training.

Responsibilities

Assist teacher in maintaining a safe, secure, learning environment.
Assist teacher in implementation of behavior intervention plan and IEP goals.
Help manage behavior of students during crises and in classroom activities.
Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
Supervise students inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground).
Maintain confidentiality and assist with administrative records and reports.
