LOCATION Plymouth Arts and Recreation Complex Pool, 650 Church Street, Plymouth, MI 48170
EMPLOYMENT STATUS Contractual
START DATE & WORK SCHEDULE ASAP
This position is contractual for 3 hours to 8 hours a week. No holidays or holiday weekends.
PAY RATE $25-45 per hour
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE Swim lesson instruction or coaching experience. Some swimming background is required including but not limited to any of the following: Lifeguard certified, swim team/competitor, lifelong swimmer, coaching, or other formal training.
EDUCATION Must be a post-college student or equivalent
SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING Ideal position for: Allied Health professional such as PT, OT, SLP, CTRS, or Special Education professional. Must possess current Lifeguard Certification (will train) within 60 days of employment. Completes Starfish Aquatics Certification within 60 days of employment. Completes Adapted Swim Training/Certification within 60 days of programming. Completes up to 4 weeks of shadow orientation. Ability to work in the pool for up to 4 hours at a time. Ability to swim 25 Yards without stopping. Ability to routinely raise to lift more than 20 lbs. Good communication and organizational skills are required. The ideal applicant has excellent customer service and problem-solving skills and enjoys working with children and adults with unique and special needs.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES Completes swim lesson plan assessments and develops swim plans for private and group students. Develops daily lesson plans to execute private and group student goals. Instructs swimming lessons and Aquatics events. Responds to participant family questions, comments, and concerns. Provides a safe, clean, and organized pool area. Fosters positive support for all staff to properly execute swim programming. Communicates with the Supervisor if an issue arises with the pool or facility. Oversees accurate program tracking, and reporting and oversees swim progress notes are completed. Follows and executes Emergency Action Plan for pool. Other job responsibilities include answering questions, providing tours, cleaning, and assisting in other program tasks as needed.
