Job description

The Adaptive Swim Instructor provides specialized swim instruction for individuals with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive and adaptive learning environment. This role involves creating individualized lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of each participant while fostering water confidence, safety, and skill development. The instructor will collaborate with families and caregivers to support each swimmer’s progress.

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Certification in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
• YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification (must obtain within 6 months).
• Strong swimming skills and ability to demonstrate proper techniques.
• Previous experience teaching or coaching adults in aquatic settings preferred.
• Ability to motivate, instruct, and adapt to individual learning needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with participants and their families.
• Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
