Job Description

Job Title: Adapted Curriculum Specialist

Salary Schedule: State Salary Schedule; CHCCS Salary Page

Reports To: Director of Instructional Services for EC

Salary Grade: Teacher

Work Location: Lincoln Center (Itinerant)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: 12 months

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, performs supervisory and administrative tasks to coordinate and monitor district initiatives, ensuring compliance with laws regarding students in Exceptional Children’s programs. Oversees program implementation, monitors effectiveness, provides staff development, and ensures adherence to policies. Supervises EC staff like ECAC Coaches and Adapted PE teachers.

Essential Duties

• Ensure program compliance with regulations
• Oversee all district Extended Content Standards classrooms, ensuring instruction aligns with standards, communication systems, daily living, behavior support, and student assignments; maintain up-to-date rosters.
• Coordinate and facilitate district assistive technology team, Professional Learning Community, support for summer programs, community outings, professional development, and collaborative strategies for increasing achievement of students with disabilities.
• Manage online curriculum resources (e.g., ULS), review classrooms for alignment, facilitate program evaluation, support inclusive scheduling, and provide feedback to staff.
• Lead discussions on curriculum and services, support district training, coordinate case work involving advocates or legal entities, attend community committees, and support transitions for early childhood students.
• Conduct student observations, support and evaluate Physical Education teachers, stay informed on policies, and perform other related tasks.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Special Education; licensure in Special Education and Adapted Curriculum
• At least five years of successful work in exceptional children services
• Data management skills; other acceptable alternatives.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform essential functions safely, maintain punctuality, lift up to 25 pounds, and operate office equipment.
