Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned ADA accommodations expert to serve as the agency subject matter expert and lead the interactive process for complex requests. You will evaluate eligibility, review documentation, and approve or deny accommodations in compliance with federal and state laws.

In a hybrid office setting with some travel, you will develop policies and training materials, maintain data reporting systems, and partner with employees, managers and HR colleagues to drive return-to-work

Qualifications

  • Six years HR experience related to the position (professional level) or equivalent certifications.
  • Master's degree can substitute for one year of professional experience.
  • SHRM/PHR or HRCI certifications can substitute for experience.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver license.
  • Knowledge of ADA Title II regulations and state/federal disability laws.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the ADA subject matter expert and lead the interactive accommodation process.
  • Evaluate eligibility, review documentation, and approve/deny requests.
  • Ensure compliant, timely administration of accommodations and investigations.
  • Develop and maintain ADA standards, policies, and training materials.
  • Support grievances, hearings, investigations, and litigation.
  • Collaborate with employees, managers, HR, safety and labor relations.
  • Monitor ADA requirements and translate into process improvements.

Job description

  • Serve as the agency subject matter expert and primary resource for complex ADA reasonable accommodation matters
  • Lead and manage the interactive process for complex ADA accommodation requests
  • Evaluate eligibility, review documentation, identify accommodations, and approve or deny requests under applicable laws and policies
  • Ensure consistent, equitable, timely and legally compliant administration of ADA accommodations
  • Interpret and apply federal and state disability laws, rules, policies and procedures
  • Investigate allegations of ADA noncompliance and workplace violations
  • Support related grievances, claims, hearings, investigations and litigation
  • Develop and maintain ADA standards, policies, procedures, resources, tools, training and educational materials
  • Develop and maintain systems, records and reporting mechanisms for accommodation data
  • Serve as a senior HR consultant and technical resource on ADA, accommodation, return-to-work and employee relations matters
  • Partner with employees, medical providers, managers, HR business partners, safety and labor relations
  • Facilitate successful return-to-work and continued employment
  • Monitor emerging ADA requirements, trends and best practices
  • Translate developments into recommendations, training, process improvements and strategic HR initiatives
  • Work in an office environment with hybrid work options and some required travel
Requirements
  • Six years human resource experience related to the position, with four years at the professional level; OR valid HRCI Professional in Human Resource certification and four years of related professional-level experience; OR bachelor's degree in a listed related field and three years of related professional-level experience
  • A master's degree in a listed course of study may substitute for one year of professional-level experience
  • SCHRP certification substitutes for six months of professional-level human resource experience
  • Valid SHRM Certified Professional certification substitutes for one year of professional-level experience
  • Valid PSHRA-CP certification substitutes for one year of professional-level human resources experience
  • Valid U.S. driver license and acceptable driving record
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply ADA Title II regulations
  • Experience applying state and federal regulations
  • Experience establishing and managing a program with associated structures, guidelines, procedural practice standards and templates
  • Required application materials must include employment dates in MM/YYYY format
  • Must complete the application questionnaire
  • Must be able to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship is offered
  • Final candidates subject to criminal background, driver license, education and other pre-employment checks
