Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Baltimore seeks a Patient Care Assistant under direct supervision to prepare patients and equipment for physical therapy, assist with treatments, observe patients, report status changes to a therapist, and manage department supplies.

Ideal candidate has a HS Diploma or GED, is able to stand 70% of the time and lift up to 50 lbs, and holds a current BLS CPR certification. Prior healthcare experience preferred and basic computer skills are expected.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 3 months healthcare experience preferred.
• Current BLS CPR certification.
• Eligible to train in EMR within access granted.
• Knowledge of patient care policies and procedures.
• Ability to use basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist under supervision with gait, ambulation and transfers.
• Prepare rooms and transport patients to treatment areas.
• Set up equipment and assist with therapy readiness.
• Take patient vitals and report changes to supervisor.
• Provide routine follow-up of exercises and supervision as directed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as faxes, calls, and LMS audits.
