Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant for the Acute Rehab Unit. This per diem role requires availability to work at least 2 Saturdays per month with hours from 8:00am to 4:30pm and offers hourly pay based on expertise and experience.

Responsibilities include implementing and adjusting treatment plans, documenting patient care, educating patients and families, and coordinating with the Physical Therapist and medical team to ensure

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy from an APTA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Current Illinois licensure or eligibility.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
• 2+ years of work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to treat and care for patients in the assigned area, implementing treatment based on developmental stages and communicating with patients.
• Administers and instructs patients in all aspects of the treatment plan, assesses effectiveness, and consults with the Physical Therapist when beyond the assistant's scope.
• Communicates treatment effects and changes in patient condition to the Physical Therapist and follows recommendations.
• Prepares and completes patient records, billing, and documentation per departmental guidelines.
• Involves patient, family, and caregivers in the plan of care, including post-discharge planning.
• Conducts patient/family education sessions and provides written home programs in consultation with the Physical Therapist.
• Coordinates with physicians, nursing, and hospital staff to provide optimal patient care.
• May assist supervision of paraprofessional staff, students, and volunteers; delegates tasks and monitors performance.
• Participates in in-service programs and rehab conferences.
• Acts as a resource to clinical staff and manages complex patients and adapts treatment plans accordingly.
