Job summary

Edward Elmhurst Health in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant for the Acute Rehab Unit on a per diem, day shift basis (8:00am–4:30pm). Must be able to work at least 2 Saturdays per month.

You will implement treatment plans with clinical judgment, document patient records, educate patients and families, and collaborate with Physical Therapists and hospital staff to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy from an APTA accredited program.
• Current Illinois licensure or eligibility.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
• 2 years of work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Treat and care for patients in the assigned Acute Rehab Unit.
• Administer and instruct patients in treatment plans; assess effectiveness with clinical judgment.
• Communicate treatment effects and changes to the Physical Therapist.
• Prepare and complete patient records, billing and documentation per guidelines.

Implements treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Interprets verbal and nonverbal communication of the patient.* Administers and instructs patients in performance of all aspects of the treatment plan, assessing the effectiveness of treatment using sound clinical judgment and consulting with Physical Therapist in situations that are beyond the assistant’s scope of practice.* Communicates treatment effects and changes in patient condition to the Physical Therapist.
