Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to deliver patient-centered care in a dynamic behavioral health environment. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage medical and psychiatric needs, ensuring high-quality outcomes and outstanding patient experiences.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. The role involves independent and physician-supervised rounding, care coordination, and education of patients.

Qualifications

• RN license in Texas or NLC required
• APRN-NP license required by Texas Board of Nursing
• BLS certification required by AHA
• Clinical specialty certification determined by the department

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic conditions under physician direction.
• Performs patient evaluations, orders and interprets tests, and contributes to treatment plans.
• Coordinates and implements patient care plans and conducts rounds as appropriate.
• Assists in forming therapeutic decisions and maintains clinical documentation.
• Educates patients about medical processes, medications, nutrition, and prevention.
