Job summary

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group seeks a Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (NP-AC) to provide comprehensive patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act of Texas.

The NP-AC will diagnose, treat, consult, and educate patients, perform physicals, order tests, prescribe medications, and participate in a multidisciplinary team under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing and graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience.
• RN Texas license within 60 days of residency, APRN – Acute Care state license, Magnet ANCC‑recognized Acute‑Care practitioner certification, BLS, ACLS, AP Prescriptive Authority, DEA Narcotics License.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates leadership as a clinical resource and preceptor; coaches staff to meet goals.
• Coordinates patient care with the interprofessional health care team to manage/coordinate care.
• Educates patients about preventive care and promotes healthy lifestyle choices.
• Performs invasive, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures within licensure and credentialed privileges.
• Contributes to professional practice standards, policies, and patient safety improvements.
