Job summary

UVA Health’s 6 West unit seeks an experienced RN to deliver comprehensive neuroscience nursing care in a high‑performing academic medical center environment. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and execute patient‑centered care for individuals with complex neurologic conditions.

The role emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and participation in quality improvement, with opportunities for professional growth and continuing education in a Magnet-recognized system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred or obtained within 5 years of hire.
• Current Virginia RN license and BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed patient assessments, interventions, education, and care coordination for patients on a neuroscience unit.
• Care for patients with diverse neurologic conditions including stroke, tumors, TBI, MS, seizures, and headaches.
• Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, stroke, and trauma teams to implement individualized care plans.
• Monitor neurologic status and respond with timely clinical interventions and escalation when needed.
• Support patients and families through recovery and end-of-life care with compassionate communication.
• Contribute to a unit culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and clinical excellence.
