Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA, seeks an experienced RN for 6 West, a 30-bed specialized adult neuroscience unit. You will deliver comprehensive, hands-on nursing care, collaborate across neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma, and support patients from diagnosis through recovery.

The role offers three 12-hour shifts (full-time) in a Magnet-recognized system, with opportunities for professional growth, continuing education, and potential sign-on/relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Education: graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required within 5 years of hire.
• Experience: 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
• Licensure: RN licensed in Commonwealth of Virginia and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed patient assessments, interventions, education, and care coordination on an acute neuroscience floor.
• Care for patients with neurologic conditions including brain tumors, stroke, epilepsy, TBI, MS.
• Collaborate with neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma teams to implement care plans.
• Monitor neurologic status and respond with timely interventions and escalation.
• Support patients and families through recovery and end-of-life care with compassionate communication.
• Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and clinical excellence.
