Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health nurses on the 28-bed Acute Medical Unit provide direct care to patients admitted from the ED, ICU, or other units. The role includes managing IV and oral medications, wound care, cardiac telemetry, central line care, parenteral nutrition, tracheostomy care, and occasional PD. Strong acute care skills are developed in a fast-paced setting.

Education: Accredited nursing program graduate; BSN preferred. Experience: 1–3 years in related work.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• 1-3 years related work experience required.
• License Registered Nurse required.
• Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments. Responsible for assessing health care needs and formulating, implementing, and evaluating a care plan.
• Coordinates care and directs assistive personnel to provide safe, effective, timely, patient-centered care.
• Works in a collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs and communicate with patients and families.
• Maintains annual mandatory education requirements and participates in professional development activities.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own nursing practice and patient safety.
• The individual nursing practice reflects the goals of the Medical Center.
