Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Acute Medicine Unit (4/5 South) within the Medical-Surgical Services (MSS) Division. This fast-paced, team-oriented unit supports adult and geriatric patients with diverse diagnoses, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include vital signs, asepsis, phlebotomy, catheter care, admissions/discharges support, hygiene, mobility, and equipment handling. Benefits and on-campus schedule are highlighted.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, and Foley catheter removal.
• Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative skin prep, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders or braces.
