Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced Acute Dialysis RN to oversee dialysis patient care across multiple locations including Hillcrest, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, Jacobs, and jail unit. The role requires ensuring prescriptions are followed, giving medications, and performing pre- and post-dialysis assessments with a strong emphasis on infection control and regulatory compliance.

Autonomous nursing practice is expected within ANA standards, with collaboration across the dialysis

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum two (2) years of dialysis experience.
• Minimum one (1) year of acute dialysis experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the care of multiple dialysis patients, ensuring prescribed treatments are followed.
• Perform required pre- and post-dialysis nursing assessments.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary dialysis team to coordinate patient care.
• Monitor infection control and regulatory interventions per applicable standards.
