Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Acute Dialysis RN role oversees care for dialysis patients across multiple locations, ensuring therapy prescriptions are followed and pre-/post-dialysis assessments are completed. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary dialysis team to maintain infection control and regulatory compliance.

Autonomous nursing practice is expected, with a commitment to professional standards and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum two (2) years of dialysis experience.
• Minimum one (1) year of acute dialysis experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions andevaluate results.
• Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the care of multiple dialysis patients and ensure prescriptions are followed.
• Perform required pre- and post-dialysis nursing assessments.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary dialysis team across multiple locations.
• Monitor infection control and regulatory interventions as outlined in the conditions for coverage.
