Job summary

Tufts Medicine's Lowell General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to deliver professional and nonprofessional nursing support under nurse direction. This role focuses on ADLs, patient safety, and smooth transitions for patients awaiting inpatient beds, primarily in the Emergency Department.

You will join a dynamic team dedicated to problem-solving, evidence-based interventions, and improving patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a nurse, performs ADLs patient care.
• Prepares patient rooms for admission.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment.
• Transports patient to procedures/discharge within/from hospital.
• Cleans and operates equipment safely.
• Performs technical tasks (glucometer, lift devices, specimens).
• Collects and reports patient data promptly.
• Acts as a Patient Sitter and provides continuous observation as needed.
• Greets visitors professionally and directs to appropriate destinations.
• Screens entry requests and enforces security policies.
• Completes admission/transfer/discharge paperwork timely.
• Maintains paper components in patient charts.
• Attends to patients and families with a caring demeanor.
