Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist to provide care to patients with acute critical conditions and cardiac/pulmonary disease. The role supports supervising and carrying out treatment plans created by a licensed Respiratory Therapist.

The position requires a 2-year Respiratory Therapy degree, 1 year of clinical experience at Cone Health, and active credentials (RRT, NC CRT/RRT) with BLS/ACLS/PALS, with RRT to be obtained within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a 2-year school for Respiratory Therapy.
• 1 year of clinical experience in Respiratory Care at Cone Health.
• Licensed: Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care as an RRT; Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT; BLS (CPR) American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; ACLS American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; PALS; Obtain RRT within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic tests such as EKGs to inform the development of treatment plans.
• Assists with monitoring invasive and non-invasive ventilators to track and improve patient recovery.
• Advocates for patients' needs internally to deliver the most appropriate care.
• Verifies using established protocol that equipment is functioning properly so that treatment plans can be carried out.
• Documents care and outcomes as required by regulatory agencies and organizational procedures to maintain patient records and suggest improvements in care.
• Supports the administration of more advanced therapies, such as bronchoscopies, to treat more complex cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
