Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a Pharmacist in an acute care setting.
• Ability to build rapport with patients.

• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• Must have up-to-date CA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Screens drug orders for drug interactions and incompatibilities.
• Screens outpatient prescriptions for billing information and whether the prescription can be filled based on the patient’s financial category.
• Consults with physicians to clarify medication orders.
• Instructs patients on proper use of medications.
• Prepares and dispenses drugs and pharmaceutical preparations.
• Fills prescriptions and assists in ward inspections.
• Checks the work of Pharmacy Technicians as required.
• Updates reference books and treatment authorization requests.
• Bills medication administration records and assists with chart reviews.
• Coordinates medication borrowing procedures from other hospitals on weekends and holidays.
• Notifies appropriate persons when stock levels are low and completes daily IV rounds, including chemotherapy IVs.
