Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Associate for the Adult Acute Care unit focused on Infectious Disease (2 North). The role assists nurses with daily living activities, maintains a safe environment, and supports patient comfort and well-being on a full-time basis on the main campus in Jackson.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic communication and teamwork skills, and a willingness to obtain BLS/CPR after hire within three months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification post-hire within 3 months.
• Experience in a healthcare or caregiving setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate support to patients by addressing needs and offering emotional well-being.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Respond to call lights and communicate patient requests to nurses or the care team.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nurse or supervisor.
• Escort and assist patients to locations within the facility as needed.
• Assist with meal service and monitor food and fluid intake.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and adhere to infection control practices.
• Support nursing staff with non-technical care tasks and basic documentation.
