Job summary

The Boston VA Healthcare System in West Roxbury, MA is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Acute Care Nursing Service Unit A1. This is a full-time night shift position at 40 hours per week, located at the West Roxbury campus.

The Nurse Assistant will work under close supervision of RNs to support licensed staff and care team in delivering outpatient veteran care, including vital signs, ADL assistance, transfers, and safety checks during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Assisting with total ADL care including bowel/bladder management, feeding, repositioning
• Assisting with hoyer lift transfers and wheelchair usage
• Maintaining safe environments, hourly rounds, and alerting nurses to issues
• Performing EKGs and documenting ADL care provided
• Obtaining and labeling specimens for testing
• Cleaning/disinfecting rooms and equipment
• May travel to other VA campuses if required
