Job summary

The Nursing Assistant position supports the Acute Care Nursing Service at the West Roxbury - MA campus of the VA Healthcare System. This full-time night shift (40 hours per week) involves assisting licensed nursing staff, performing ADL care, and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants must meet basic qualifications and KSAs, with eligibility for GS-3 to GS-5 levels depending on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience
• 1 year of education above high school with courses related to nursing care/healthcare
• Completion of an intensive occupation-related training course of less than one year as NA may meet the experience requirement
• Demonstrated KSAs: patient care, assessment, communication, use of basic medical equipment

Responsibilities

• Take, record, and report vital signs accurately
• Assist with ADL care, treatments, and patient transfers
• Provide safe environment and hourly rounds
• Perform EKGs and document care provided
• Obtain and label specimens for testing
