Job summary

Memorial Hermann seeks a Nurse Practitioner/APP for the Cardiovascular ICU/IMU to deliver comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and in-hospital follow up, in line with the Texas Nurse Practice Act and system standards.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of critical care experience focusing on heart failure populations; AGACNP or PA credentials; night shift 7p–7a with rotating weekends/holidays and no on-call requirement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas.
• Graduate of Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas if Trauma practice; Masters preferred.
• Two years of clinical nursing experience in critical care required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and in-hospital follow up.
• Care for cardiovascular ICU patients including post-op cardiac surgery and support devices.
• Meet Memorial Hermann standards of care and Texas Nurse Practice Act.

• New NPs or PAs MUST have 2-3 years of RN experience with Critical Care ICU


• Patient population includes VV/VA ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Post-op Cardiac Surgery

Minimum QualificationsEducation:

• Graduate of Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas

• Graduate of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas if area of intended practice is Trauma; Masters of Nursing preferred. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with at least two (2) years’ related experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current State of Texas license to practice professional nursing


• Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center


• or


• National Certification Center in area of specialty


• or


• the American Association of Nurse Practitioners


• or


• the American Certification of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification


• Certified in Basic Life Support; current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)


• or


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)


• or


• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)


• Certified in ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) if area of practice is Trauma within 6 months of hire date

Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills:

• Two (2)years clinical nursing experience in area of intended practice
