Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of biological specimens in acute setting across specialty areas using manual or automated techniques.
• Evaluate results for clinical significance, validity and reporting.
• Calibrate, maintain and repair instruments; detect malfunctions and implement corrections.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance per established protocol; take corrective action.
• Collect specimens from newborn, pediatric and adult patients per protocol.
• Provide training and supervision to technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff; assist in education/training protocols.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
• Perform proficiency testing and handle specialty testing in transfusion, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
