Job summary

Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) seeks an Associate Actuary, USIL Assumptions, to develop mortality and lapse assumptions in collaboration with senior actuaries and underwriters, applying new tools and data. You will analyze retrospective studies, predictive models and risk programs to produce actionable results.

This role emphasizes rigorous documentation, peer reviews and clear communication with executives and clients, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or related field.
FSA accreditation.
6+ years actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance.
Advanced actuarial technical skills.
Advanced knowledge of life insurance products and pricing.
Demonstrated understanding of reinsurance concepts and methods.
Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheet and database applications.
Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the VP & Actuary, develop mortality, lapse and other assumptions based on thorough risk analysis and provide meaningful interpretation of the analyses to department management and other key stakeholders, both internal and external.
Evaluate, proactively monitor the use of, and develop assumptions for new risk selection tools and programs.
Participate in special projects, committees, meetings, and presentations with internal and external audiences.
Maintain thorough documentation of risk selection tools and programs with less experience including assumptions developed, supporting analysis performed, peer review and process executed.
Challenge and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of framework, standards, and processes to enable these activities.
Perform peer reviews as needed.
Assist others in the team and/or other departments to ensure appropriate analyses, key deliverables, and related, necessary actions are completed in a timely manner, as determined by project and business needs.
Foster positive relationships, collaborate, and communicate professionally with key stakeholders and business partners, including senior executives and clients.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
