Job summary

NYSTRS is seeking an Actuary Intern to support the actuarial team with data reconciliation, reporting, and analysis. The role offers exposure to statutory valuations, option factor calculations, and collaborative work with auditors within a supportive environment.

Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science program. The position is hybrid, with responsibilities spanning the Annual Financial Report and board meeting preparations.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s program in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science with at least one semester remaining.
• Pursuing degree in a quantitative field with expected graduation after internship.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the annual actuarial reconciliation process.
• Draft information, charts, and graphs for the Actuarial and Statistical sections of the Annual Financial Report.
• Collaborate with outside auditors and System accountants to prepare the Report.
• Prepare actuarial annuity values and option factors as required by statute.
• Contribute actuarial information for the July board meeting.
