Actuarial Sr. Consultant – Professional Lines Pricing - REMOTE

This position supports the Commercial Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance portfolio within the broader Professional Lines segment. The role is embedded in a technically advanced actuarial team that emphasizes innovation, data integration, and close collaboration with underwriting and business leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in pricing strategy, model enhancement, and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead pricing and strategic support for the D&O book of business.
  2. Maintain and enhance the Pricing predictive model, which integrates public financial data to generate predictive insights.
  3. Collaborate with underwriting and business partners to address performance challenges in the D&O market.
  4. Contribute to broader actuarial innovation efforts, including the integration of external data sources and advanced analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Actuarial experience in professional lines, with a preference for D&O exposure.
  2. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/R and SQL.
  3. Familiarity with modern data tools and platforms like GitHub, Databricks, and PowerBI.
  4. Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a collaborative, high-performing team.
Work Environment and Flexibility
  • This role can be staffed fully remote.

Job Description Summary

As an Actuarial Sr. Consultant, you’ll need detailed familiarity with business operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies. You’ll be adept at complex techniques and work independently to provide high-level analysis, expertise, and recommendations. You’ll also maintain detailed documentation and may lead others.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical expert in actuarial methodologies, source and manipulate data, and resolve complex issues.
  • Conduct complex analyses, document assumptions and methods, and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences, including regulators and auditors.
  • Develop work plans, lead cross-functional reviews, and build business relationships.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new associates, and explore new software and modeling techniques.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to Actuarial Leader.

Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, or related field.

Licenses/Certifications: Generally attained ACAS, working toward or recently attained FCAS.

Experience: Six or more years of actuarial experience.

Skills: Knowledge of actuarial functions, statistical analysis, software, and programming languages. Competencies include command skills, strategic agility, delegation, motivation, business understanding, problem-solving, customer focus, dealing with ambiguity, results-driven, and learning agility.
