This position supports the Commercial Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance portfolio within the broader Professional Lines segment. The role is embedded in a technically advanced actuarial team emphasizing innovation, data integration, and collaboration with underwriting and business leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in pricing strategy, model enhancement, and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead pricing and strategic support for the D&O book of business.
  2. Maintain and enhance the Pricing predictive model, integrating public financial data to generate insights.
  3. Collaborate with underwriting and business partners to address performance challenges in the D&O market.
  4. Contribute to broader actuarial innovation efforts, including external data integration and advanced analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actuarial experience in professional lines, with a preference for D&O exposure.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/R and SQL.
  • Familiarity with data tools/platforms like GitHub, Databricks, PowerBI.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.

Job Description Summary

Our Property and Casualty (P&C) Actuarial team offers opportunities to use state-of-the-art tools, encourages innovation, and mastery of actuarial methodologies. If you thrive in such an environment, we want to hear from you!

As an Actuarial Consultant, you’ll need expertise in actuarial functions and P&C products to perform complex analyses, providing consultation and recommendations on models and issues.

This role may include participation in the P&C Actuarial Rotation Program, offering experience across different actuarial, analytics, and risk management teams through multiple rotations. Details will be provided upon your start date.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deep knowledge of actuarial methodologies; capable of sourcing and manipulating complex data.
  • Conduct complex analyses, adhering to standards, developing recommendations, and resolving issues with professional judgment.
  • Document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations clearly.
  • Prepare and present findings for technical and non-technical audiences, representing the company with regulators and external vendors.
  • Develop work plans and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Lead peer reviews, foster collaboration, and drive innovation.
  • Maintain and build relationships with business clients.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new associates.
  • Apply data mining and predictive modeling techniques, explore new software tools.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to an Actuarial, Analytics, or Risk Management leader.

Skills and Experiences

Education: Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, or similar.

Licenses/Certifications: Typically ACAS, working toward FCAS.

Experience: Generally five or more years in actuarial roles.

Knowledge & Skills: In-depth knowledge of actuarial functions, statistical methods, software, and programming; strong problem-solving, business understanding, and interpersonal skills.
