Job summary

EMC Insurance is offering a paid internship in its corporate actuarial team, based in the Des Moines metro with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office per week). You will work on projects with Actuarial Operations and Predictive Analytics, performing data collection, analysis and reporting to leaders.

Students should pursue actuarial science or related fields and maintain a strong GPA while gaining hands-on experience in insurance analytics.

Qualifications

• Actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related major.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
• Knowledge of statistics and probability.
• Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Education & Experience:

• Actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related major
• Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of statistics and probability
• Strong analytical, investigation, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Power BI preferred
• Familiarity with R, SAS, SQL &/or Python preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Potential to Continue with EMC:

Depending on business needs and individual performance, interns may have the opportunity to continue working with EMC in a part-time capacity following the internship.
