Job summary

Banner Life Insurance Company in Maryland is seeking an experienced actuary to join the valuation team. You will maintain cloud-based valuation processes, transform data, and support monthly reserves reporting for Banner, William Penn, and captive reinsurance entities.

You will collaborate with modeling, finance, audit, and IT, drive process improvements, and ensure timely year-end materials while aligning with Statutory and Tax accounting. This role offers remote work on EST.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Actuarial Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
• 5+ years of actuarial experience, life insurance and/or valuation preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in data and technology space with database administration and writing code for querying data using SQL, NoSQL, etc.
• Minimum one year of professional experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Spark using version control / GIT. Python experience required.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining modern data solutions within cloud architecture in either AWS or Azure ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Maintain valuation processes implemented in the cloud using Azure and Databricks for monthly reporting.
• Perform data transformation and ensure actuarial data pipelines support the monthly valuation process.
• Assist in developing and deploying changes to valuation processes for flexibility and automation.
• Collaborate with modeling, finance, audit, and IT to incorporate new items into downstream reporting.
